WTF: Say What?

How would you feel if the next time you went to McDonalds they made you stand on a scale before ordering your meal? Guess what if you weigh over a certain weight they won't serve you at all.

Mississippi is trying to do just that. They have introduced HB 282 into Legislature that reads:

"Any food establishment to which this section applies shall not be allowed to serve food to any person who is obese, based on criteria prescribed by the State Department of Health after consultation with the Mississippi Council on Obesity Prevention and Management established under Section 41-101-1 or its successor."

In an unrelated story, Jan Perry, Councilwoman for South Los Angeles is trying to ban new fast food restaurants from being built. The discussion continued to explain it's easier to buy a gun than it is fruits and vegetables. HOG WASH. I don't care what city you live in. If you have a grocery store they have fruits and vegetables. If you shop at Guns R Us than maybe you'll have a tough time finding a produce isle. So get to your grocery store and buy the fruits and vegetables.

The problem is folks even if you go to the grocery store versus the fast food restaurant if you want junk food you are going to buy junk food! It's that simple. The grocery store will sell you both the junk food and healthy food.

Therefore, it's up to you as an individual to want to be healthy and get healthy! It's not up to the local politicians to tell you what you can eat.

WTF is right.

Are they crazy? That is hands down the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

I am "overweight" by societies standards, but I certainly don't chow down on fast food. How dare some idiot try to tell me I can't have a burger when I finally decide I want one.

Hi Kevin & Monique

What is this world coming to? I was shocked, but more horrified that our personal freedoms can be revoked due to other prejudices. At least that's how I see it.

Thanks for weighing in. The more of us who speak out, maybe we can stop this ludicrous law.
