While engaging in one of my favorite past times, channel surfing, I happened to come across a channel that was running an old Dave Chappelle show.
I must admit that I feel a tiny bit of guilt while watching his show because from what I can figure, something went really wrong between him and the Comedy Channel. Chappelle was on top of the world, seemingly able to write his own ticket, yet he chose to leave it all in a most spectacular way with little explanation of why, in 2005.
When I watch Dave Chappelle I laugh so hard that my chest hurts, sometimes I even pee or snort water out of my nose. No, it's not pretty or ladylike but it IS funny, and afterwards there is that glow that comes from having had a really good laugh. It's liberating.
Dave Chappelle is undeniably creative and talented and there are, for my money, few comedians that can touch him.
So yeah, I feel some guilt when I watch Dave Chappelle's defunct show; but like shopping at WalMart, I do it anyway.
