CNN Everyday Heroes

CNN received over 7000 submissions from 93 countries for those who qualify as an everyday hero. A committee/ panel of 15, managed to surf their way through these many many wonderful individuals. These individuals have sacrificed a small part of themselves to make a difference for the greater good. Each of them is an everyday hero!

These heroes were honored at an all star gala tribute. The tribute will include superstar appearances from Mary J. Blige, Cheryl Crow, Glenn Close, Anderson Cooper, Tyra Banks, Masi Oka, Harry Connick, Jr., Nora Jones, Jimmy Smits and Kyra Sedgwick (plus many many more).

The CNN Heroes categories:

• Championing Children: extraordinary commitment to the welfare of young people

During the Gala others were recognized for moments of bravery and acts of courage. We all remember that man who jumped in the subway to save another man. His name is Wesley Autry and he was recognized.

We raise our glasses to each of the 7000 submissions, just for doing something to be recognized! What an excellent way to bring 2007 to a close! CHEERS
