Last night, as I was watching Entertainment Tonight, a teaser came on for a story that would be broadcast later about Dennis Quaid and his newborn twins. The twins were “accidentally given an overdose” at a local hospital.
I screamed at the TV: “GOD… WAS IT CEDARS?” a split second later the story aired and sure enough, the “local hospital” was none other than Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles/Beverly Hills, California.
It seems that Dennis Quaid’s newborn twins, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace, were “accidentally” given 10,000 units per milliliter of Heparin instead of 10 units per milliliter. The correct dosage would have been used to flush the twins IV catheters. There was also a third baby who suffered the same event as Dennis Quaid’s newborn twins.
My premonition about Cedars was really not a premonition but the result of my own, and other’s, experiences at this hospital. I once went to the ER because I’d slammed my hand in a car door, the ER doctor told me my hand was broken after viewing x-rays that were clearly marked with someone else’s name and age. When I pointed out his error he just laughed it off. I’d rather stick hot pokers in my eyes than ever be taken to that hospital.
Cedars Sinai Medical Center was once the benchmark in medical excellence and I’m sure they’d like to think they still are, but there are many people who have had horrendous experiences at Cedars Sinai Medical Center and sadly, Dennis Quaid and his family can now be added to that list.
We at formortv sincerely extend are sympathies to Dennis Quaid and his family and hope that the twins emerge from this experience unscathed.
